Centenario del nacimiento de Hugo Marozzi.
Nació en La Plata el 6 de octubre de 1921, sus padres fueron el porteño Antonio y la brasileña Carmen López, sus cuatro hermanos: Osvaldo, Armando,Lidia y Olga.
Hugo Marozzi fue bandoneonista, director de orquesta, compositor y arreglador y, por sobre todas las cosas, un hombre de tango que trabajó intensamente durante toda su vida para difundir la música más popular y representativa que tenemos los argentinos.
Era cultor del tango y los tangueros de la década de 1940, que fue poco más o menos como una bisagra en la historia del tango. De la época de oro rescataba a Alfredo Gobbi, Carlos Di Sarli y Horacio Salgán; y como bandoneonistas a Pedro Maffia, Juan José Mosalini, Roberto Di Filippo, Alberto Di Paulo y Antonio Ríos.
En una nota concedida al diario “La Nueva Provincia” de Bahía Blanca, y publicada en la edición del domingo 12 de febrero de 1995, el músico señaló: “me gusta investigar sobre nuestros ancestros musicales, en especial los tangueros. Confecciono y perfecciono mi Calendario del Tango, una obra que rescata todas las fechas importantes de nuestra música ciudadana”.
Marozzi recuerda su infancia y señala: “En un casamiento de pequeño vi a un músico tocar el bandoneón. Me atrapó y comencé a estudiarlo. Mi primer bandoneón “un Doble A” me costó 360 pesos y yo ganaba 60 por mes, como mensajero en el Ferrocarril Sud, lo compré en 1938 en la Casa Roca, de La Plata. Aún lo conservo, tiene larga vida porque yo lo acaricio, no lo golpeo y hago que se luzca en Canaro en París”.
Se inició en 1939, a los 18 años, en una orquesta de barrio formando el grupo “Venus”, después se incorpora a la orquesta “Los Reyes Blancos”, formando la fila de bandoneones junto a Mario Torti y Domingo Conti, pasando luego por varias orquesta típicas, como la de “Los Zorros Grises” o la de “Los Mendocinos”. Se independizó y formó su propio cuarteto típico en 1947. Lo hizo junto a Juan Carlos Pereyra en piano, Vicente Fontana en violín y Carmelo Saguese en contrabajo. Esta formación —según sus propias palabras— le brindó muchas satisfacciones, como por ejemplo tener a Héctor Baldi como cantante, a Rodolfo Cabral (padre de Facundo) como presentador o batir verdaderos “récords” de actuaciones compartiendo escenario con figuras de la talla de Oscar Alemán, Feliciano Brunelli y Barry Moral, entre otros.
Se casó con Maria Juana San Sebastián el 22 de septiembre de 1945, juntos tuvieron dos hijos: Mirta María y Roberto Hugo.
Después de trabajar en Radio Mitre, Marozzi dejó la música para dedicarse por completo a su trabajo en el Ferrocarril como jefe de estación. Es en 1973 cuando se radica en Bahía Blanca y se conecta con los músicos Ernesto Puefil, José Amado y Carlos Briganti.
En esta ciudad, fue impulsor -junto a Felipe Baldi- de la Peña “Amigos del 2 x 4, Juan Carlos Cobián”, fundada el 10 de septiembre de 1982, que realizaba para el aniversario de la ciudad en el mes de abril, “Bahía Blanca, tus hijos te cantan“, con producciones exclusivas de bahienses; en agosto, la “Noche de las Liras”, donde se destacaba a las principales figuras del movimiento tanguero, en Bahía Blanca. Formaron parte de su cuarteto los músicos Miguel Ortiz (violín), Juan Carlos Polizzi (piano) y Eduardo Polizzi (bajo eléctrico).
No sólo fue impulsor y difusor de nuevas canciones sino también de nuevos cantantes: Nora Roca, Silvana Lorena, Alberto Acuña, Ana Baldi, Roberto del Barrio, Roxana Soler, entre otros, fueron descubiertos y formados por Marozzi. La presentadora de los eventos era Mary Sevillano.
Quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo cuentan que Marozzi desbordaba tango por todos sus poros. Cada momento, cada situación era para él motivo de inspiración para la creación de una nueva pieza. Así surgieron, entre otros tantos, tangos dedicados al Boca de Bianchi, a su amigo de la infancia, el doctor Favaloro, a Maradona, al centenario de Guaite; algunos con letras propias y otros musicalizando poemas que le acercaban.
Admirador de Astor Piazzolla, Osmar Maderna, Hugo del Carril y Facundo Cabral, respetuoso de la figura histórica de Juan Manuel de Rosas, alternó su quehacer musical con la de consecuente empleado ferroviario, actividad en la que desarrolló una ascendente carrera, para lo cual no pudo menos que manejarse con determinadas conductas, lejos de noches en vela o tertulias de café. Por el contrario, a Marozzi le tocaba, después de actuar en un baile, presentarse en la estación del ferrocarril para tomar servicio a las 4 de la mañana.
El sábado 30 de junio de 2007, a los 85 años y tras soportar el proceso de una cruel enfermedad que hasta le borró los recuerdos de vivencias junto a su fuelle tanguero, se apagó la vida de Hugo Marozzi, tras pasar los últimos años en su La Plata natal.
Marozzi como gran maestro de la música ciudadana, sin lugar a dudas ha dejado en la historia del tango bahiense una huella inmortal.
