Horacio molina nacío el 2 de septiembre de 1935 en el porteñisimo barrio de Almagro, en la calle Quito, a quince cuadras de la cancha de San Lorenzo. Fanático del ciclón, su padre Eduardo fue médico del plantel y su tio Enrique Pinto fue presidente de la entidad entre 1939 y 1945.
Cantó desde pibe, siempre recordaba que interpretaba el tango de Emilio Falero y Virgilio Carmona, “Pobre Colombina” en las reuniones y fiestas familiares.
Comenzó su vida artística en la década de 1960, cantando boleros y bossa nova, actuando con frecuencia en el mítico bar “Jamaica” de San Martín y Paraguay en el corazón del Barrio Norte capitalino. Allí lo escuchó cantar Victor Buchino (director artístico de la RCA Víctor) y le hizo grabar el tango del poeta Eugenio Majul “Tengo” a ritmo de bolero.

Participó en programas televisivos como el recordado “Sábados circulares”, la genial creación de Pipo Mancera, “Sábados de la bondad” y “Domingos de mi ciudad”, entre otros.
Fue productor artístico entre 1969 y 1971 del reducto cultural La Fusa inaugurado en Punta Del Este, con sedes alternativas en Buenos Aires (en la galería Capitol, de Santa Fe entre Callao y Riobamba) y Mar del Plata (en la esquina de Aristóbulo del Valle y Rodríguez Peña, Playa Grande), allí cantaba y producía shows de Vinícius de Moraes, María Bethania, Chico Buarque, Toquinho, Dorival Caymmi y María Creuza.
A partir del año 1975 se dedica de lleno al tango, graba el disco “Por los amigos” para CBS, material que se reeditaría en el año 2007.
Sus otras producciones discográficas son: “Volver… ” ( CBS, 1977), “Tangos” ( Philips,1984), “Hoy” ( Confluencia, 1987), “Barrio reo” (DBN, 2000), “Ecos” ( DBN, 2002), “Tango (DBN, 2002), Clásicos (DBN, 2002), “Tango canción” (DBN, 2002), “A pedido” (Acqua Records/Naxos of America, 2005), “Tango esencial” (Manana, 2007), “Mis 30 mejores canciones” (CBN, 2007), “Buenos amigos” (Acqua Records, 2007), “Mil recuerdos” (DBN, 2009), “Alfredo Le Pera por Horacio Molina” (DBN, 2010), “Nosotros”, en vivo con Amelita Baltar (Epsa Music, 2010).
Gardeliano de alma, así se refería al El Zorzal criollo: “Gardel abrió una llave en mi alma, por eso guardo tanta información sobre él. Conozco sus versiones, sus fraseos, cómo respira… todo”.
Se casó con la bella y talentosa actriz Chunchuna Villafañe y tuvieron dos hijas, las actrices Juana Molina e Inés Molina.
Durante la dictadura se exilió en Francia donde vivió hasta que regresó la democracia a nuestro país.
Grabó alrededor de 250 canciones y compuso obras en colaboración con Eladia Bláquez (“Lo vivido”), Carlos Barocela (“Nuestro refugio”, “Mi ciudad”), Albino Gómez (“Quiero contarle al viento”) y Teresa Parodi (“Corazón de pájaro”).
Fue miembro de la Academia Nacional del Tango.
Formó parte del elenco de la película Cleopatra (2003), dirigida por Eduardo Mignogna, que protagonizaron Norma Aleandro, Natalia Oreiro y Alberto de Mendoza.
Formó parte del elenco del programa televisivo semanal “La Fama es puro Cuento” conducido por Juan Imperial y en el que participaban entre otros Calígula , Ricardo “chiqui” Pereyra,María José Mentana, Alberto Oviedo, Gaby “la voz sensual del tango” y el bandoneonista Leopoldo Federico, producido por el que suscribe para la TV Pública (canal 7) en el año 2012
Fue un cantor intimista, notable, exquisito, dueño de un fraseo único. Sus versiones de “Rubi” (Enrique Cadicamo y Juan Carlos Cobian), “Fuimos” (Homero Manzi y José Dames), “Flor de Lino” (Homero Expósito y Héctor Stamponi) el vals “Absurdo” (Homero y Virgilio Expósito) y la zamba “La Nochera” (Jaime Dávalos y Ernesto Cabeza) son verdaderas joyas de la música popular argentina.
Falleció el día del maestro del año 2018 en la ciudad de Buenos Aires .
Tuve el enome privilegio de conocerlo, tratarlo bastante y producirle varios shows, era una persona culta y muy refinada, un gentleman gruñón y querible.
